Advantame is the sweetest of the approved intense sweeteners, roughly twenty thousand times as sweet as sugar. It is used in tiny quantities in drinks, dairy products, chewing gum and baked goods.

What it is made from

Synthesised from aspartame and vanillin, then hydrogenated. Like neotame it is a substituted aspartame derivative, and the substitution prevents the release of phenylalanine in digestion.
