South Korea's Standards and Specifications for Food Additives
Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (식품의약품안전처) · South Korea
The additives the Ministry has designated as permitted, with the main use and the standard for use of each.
No official English text of the current notification exists, so the Korean is the rule and anything in English beside it is this site's description of what the rule does. The National Law Information Center states that its text has no legal effect and that the Official Gazette prevails.
How it is arranged
- Part III — the item-by-item list of designated additives, in sections: general food additives, processing aids, nutrient fortifiers, mixed preparations, and sanitisers for utensils and packaging.
- Part IV — the compositional specifications of each additive; Part II — the general standards that apply to every additive.
- Issued as a public notification under Article 7 of the Food Sanitation Act. A version applies from its effective date, not its publication date: on 3 October 2026 Notice No. 2025-76 is in force and Notice No. 2026-50, published in July 2026, takes effect on 1 January 2028.
What this site takes from it
Part III's single-substance entries, matched to pages by CAS number, then INS number, then exact name, and the standards for use kept in the Korean they are written in.
And what it does not
Mixed preparations, sanitisers for utensils and packaging, Parts II and IV, and any amendment not yet in force. An absence of a South Korea row says nothing about South Korea's rules.
