Health Canada's Lists of Permitted Food Additives

Health Canada · Canada

Fifteen lists, one per purpose of use — preservatives, colouring agents, emulsifiers and so on — each naming the foods an additive may be used in and the level.

How it is arranged

  • One list per class of use, incorporated by reference into the Food and Drug Regulations, so a list can be amended without amending the regulations.
  • Foods are named in prose rather than by a category code.

What this site takes from it

Every list, as permissions with their conditions, matched to pages by name.

And what it does not

Nothing knowingly, but the lists carry no E or INS numbers, so a listing reaches a page only where the name identifies the substance exactly. The names that did not match are published.

Provenance
