Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers
European Parliament and Council · European Union
What a food label must say. For additives, that means how they are named in an ingredients list and the additional statements certain ones oblige.
How it is arranged
- Annex II — the fourteen allergens whose presence must be declared.
- Annex III — foods whose labelling must carry additional particulars: sweeteners, aspartame, polyols, liquorice, caffeine, packaging gases.
- Annex VII Part C — additives designated by the name of their functional class followed by a specific name or E number.
What this site takes from it
Annex II as the allergen list behind the allergen-origin page; Annex III and Annex VII Part C as labelling rules.
And what it does not
The bulk of the regulation, which concerns nutrition declaration, origin, legibility and the rest of the label.
