Evaluations of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives
Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives; database published by WHO · Codex Alimentarius
What JECFA concluded about a substance at each of its meetings, including the acceptable daily intake it set and the meeting and year it set it.
The database pages are © WHO under the WHO website terms of use, not the CC BY-NC-SA licence that covers WHO publications. This site records the figures, the committee and the year — facts rather than expression — and links every one back to WHO's own page.
How it is arranged
- One entry per chemical, listing its evaluations newest first, each with the meeting number, the year, the intake conclusion and the reports it appeared in.
- Conclusions take several forms: a figure, a group intake shared with related substances, “not specified”, “not limited”, or no intake at all.
What this site takes from it
The acceptable daily intake alone — the figure or the standard phrase, the committee, the year, and a link back to WHO's entry. A value reaches a page only by exact identifier or exact name; no evaluation text is reproduced.
And what it does not
Everything else in the database: the evaluation narratives, the toxicological summaries and the intake assessments. Tolerable intakes (PTWI, PMTDI, MTDI) are left out too, having no equivalent in this site's vocabulary.
