Combined Compendium of Food Additive Specifications
Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives; published by FAO · Codex Alimentarius
What a substance must be to count as the additive, in JECFA's own terms: definition, assay, identification and purity. Advisory until a country adopts it.
A JECFA specification is advisory: it binds nobody until a country adopts it. The committee's intake conclusions are recorded separately — see where the two committees differ.
How it is arranged
- One monograph per substance, revised when JECFA revisits it, each carrying the meeting and year of its last revision.
What this site takes from it
Every monograph that matches a page here, with its fields, shown apart from the EU's specification for the same substance.
And what it does not
Nothing material from the monographs. JECFA's acceptable daily intakes are held too, but they come from a separate WHO database rather than from this compendium.
Provenance
