Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone, or PVPP, is not eaten: it is a processing aid used to clarify beer, wine and juice by binding the compounds that cause haze, and is then filtered out.

What it is made from

A cross-linked synthetic polymer made from vinylpyrrolidone. Because it is insoluble it can be removed completely after doing its work, which is the basis of its use.
